The PRC was founded in 1949. It has never governed Taiwan for a single day. Every post-colonial nation that achieved self-governance — Ireland, Algeria, India, Vietnam — is recognised under its own name. Taiwan has governed itself longer than most. Does it deserve the same recognition?
